President Donald Trump landed back on U.S. soil Wednesday morning, announcing his return from the summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un with a couple of tweets touting that there “is no longer a Nuclear Threat from North Korea.”

At the historic summit in Singapore on Tuesday, Trump became the first U.S. president to meet with the leader of North Korea, overcoming years of tense relationships between the two countries.

Trump took the opportunity to praise his administration's progress on North Korea, avoiding a potential nuclear weapons showdown by easing tensions with Pyongyang.

“Just landed – a long trip, but everybody can now feel much safer than the day I took office,” Trump said upon arriving back in the U.S.

The president went on to bash the previous administration, highlighting the contrast in U.S.-North Korea relations since he took office, adding that everyone can “sleep well tonight” now that nuclear warfare seems to have been averted.

Trump then chimed in on his announcement that the U.S. would be halting “war games” with South Korea, a move designed to signify his administration's commitment to guaranteeing the security of Kim's regime in exchange for denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula.

The president made a point of showing off his success at the summit despite criticisms from opponents who bashed the vague conditions of the document he signed alongside Kim, which called for the “complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.”

Others saw Trump's meeting with the North Korean leader as legitimizing the Kim regime despite its history of human rights abuses.

But the White House is moving full steam ahead on the talking point that Trump was able to make significant progress in a relationship previously defined by bombastic rhetoric and threats of mass destruction.

@Captain_Snowflake(5 likes)So I see the usual comments here. This is a big “game” that T knows how to play very well. He is giving Kim what he needs at home to reduce a chance of a political take over and killing Kim. Kim could only stay out of country for ONE DAY! The way KIm runs that country is horrible but we don’t really understand the entire manner. If Kim wants to be the savior of his country- to say his grandfather couldn’t do it, his father couldn’t do it but I have been able to bring the NK and US together for the benefit of my people. He still wants to be in charge! He is going to have to play the game that T leads!! Kim CANT lead the game, he doesn’t know how to process and act on it. Believe me. If Kim screws with T it will be a short lived issue. I believe that Ts one on one meeting was to explain where- not how- we would resolve any “issues”. The response won’t be in the fields in the country, it will be where Kim is at that moment and anyone else who could lead any type of aggressive action. It may not work- so is it a bad thing to try?Remember naysayers , thinking is important and difficult. I value my friends who see what I can’t and explain it to me. It is harder than just writing something stupid
