Donald Trump Jr. privately messaged with WikiLeaks on multiple occasions leading up to the 2016 presidential election, according to a new report.

In Twitter direct messages obtained by The Atlantic, WikiLeaks and Trump Jr. were in communication between September 2016 and this summer, with some messages being relayed in November right before Election Day.

During the 2016 election cycle, WikiLeaks dumped multiple batches of emails stolen by Russian actors from Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton's campaign and the Democratic National Committee (DNC).

During one exchange, WikiLeaks messaged Trump Jr. in late September 2016 warning him that a new anti-Trump site was “about to launch” and provided him with the site's password after guessing it was “putintrump.”

In October 2016, WikiLeaks asked Trump Jr. if the campaign could “comment on/push” a story detailing Hillary Clinton saying that she'd like to “drone” WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange

“Already did that earlier today. It's amazing what she can get away with,” Trump Jr. reportedly replied.

Minutes later, Trump Jr. asked WikiLeaks, “What's behind this Wednesday leak I keep reading about?”

Former Trump adviser Roger Stone had just tweeted, “Wednesday@HillaryClinton is done. #WikiLeaks.”

Nine days later, WikiLeaks messaged Trump Jr., “Hey Donald, great to see you and your dad talking about our publications. Strongly suggest your dad tweets this link if he mentions us (a link was included). There's many great stories the press are missing and we're sure some of your follows will find it. Btw we just released Podesta Emails Part 4.”

President Donald Trump tweeted 15 minutes later, “Very little pick-up by the dishonest media of incredible information provided by WikiLeaks. So dishonest! Rigged system!”
